Presentation in Trenton 4/7
Posted by budgetcrunchers on April 16, 2009
Scott did a presentation at The College of New Jersey in Trenton on Tuesday, April 7th, with about 15 people in attendance. The presentation went well and there was a great question and answer session after. We hope to go back to Trenton soon and meet more people.
Thanks to Todd at the Bonner Center for making the event happen.
A couple interesting points about the Trenton Budget:
- The City of Trenton sold part of its waterworks to a private company in order to make up for budget shortalls. It’s estimated that the sale will help plug budget holes for two years. There was an unsuccessful petition drive to block the sale.
- There was a major property tax hike put approved for FY2010. Additionally, the State of New Jersey is requiring Trenton to defer payments into its municipal pension fund. See this article from the Trenton Times.
Below are the presentation itself and an articel from the The Signal, the student paper at The College of New Jersey.
